I am a forty-something mother and step-mother to our four children. Keep in mind our "children" equate to two college students and two teens.
Technically, Hubs and I are in our empty nesting phase. However, we are just now realizing that they need us more than ever. Even though we pay for our two eldest girls to live in a campus apartment not far from us, we find them hanging out in our home. When they were in high school we never saw them. Now, they have their own place, and yet, it seems like they have no other place to go.
Perhaps, it's the full pantry and refrigerator. Perhaps, it's the free laundry. Who cares? I prefer to think, despite some rocky teen years, "They just really like us!"
